Legal Assistance Office (Fort Myer)

Mission Statement:

The Legal Assistance Division of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate for the Military District of Washington is committed to providing quality legal assistance services to all eligible clients, including active duty/activated soldiers, military retirees, and family members.

We provide client services for a variety of legal issues including family law, wills and estate planning, tax law, landlord/ tenant matters, contract disputes, and consumer law. By Military Regulation attorneys are not authorized to provide representation in civilian courts. Attorney referral list are available as needed.

The office is open for walk-in Notary and Power of Attorney Services from 0800 – 1630 Monday through Friday. Consultations with a legal assistance attorney require appointments, which can be scheduled by telephone on Friday mornings beginning at 0900 until all appointments for the coming week are filled.
