Capital Shield
Capital Shield 2012 is an interagency emergency management exercise conducted at Ft, McNair, District of Columbia, and Lorton, Virginia. It is an opportunity to show the Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region’s (JFHQ-NCR) unique capabilities and how we work jointly with our partners as a collaborative team in a contingency environment, across a full spectrum of assigned missions.
Purpose
Improve JFHQ-NCR readiness; facilitate the interoperability and cross-talk between JFHQ-NCR and Components, the National Guard, National Capital Region Medical-Joint Task Force (JTF-CapMed) and the Inter-Agency to develop linkages that can be used for future readiness. To do this, we will conduct a Field Training Exercise (FTX) and Command Post Exercise (CPX) using Homeland Defense (HLD) / Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) scenarios.
End State
Command is trained and prepared to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) while maintaining the security & integrity of Military Reservations through the employment of Force Protection measures.
